This is an experiment in point of view and character voice. In this series I’ll be using MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)—to explore how they shape the way a character tells their own story.

  • For writers, it’s a tool to sharpen your characters voices and deepen uniqueness.

  • For AI users, it’s a way to refine prompts and narrative tone… to make your AI-generated prose feel more human.

  • For readers, it’s a way to explore MBTI types in action, and reflect on how perspective changes everything—even in a familiar fable.

Let’s find out what happens when a classic tale gets filtered through a new lens.

🐢 The Original Fable: The Tortoise and the Hare

A hare made fun of a tortoise for being so slow. The tortoise challenged the hare to a race. Amused, the hare agreed and sprinted ahead, confident of winning. Halfway through, he grew bored and decided to nap. The tortoise, moving slowly and steadily, passed the sleeping hare and crossed the finish line just as the hare awoke and dashed forward. Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.

📝 Retelling: The Hare as an ESFJ

I didn’t mean to be cruel.

It’s just—we’ve all seen him. Tortoise. Always moving like time doesn’t exist. Always quiet in the corner, never saying much unless someone speaks first. And maybe I teased him a little. Lighthearted stuff. The kind of banter that keeps the group dynamic flowing.

I thought it would lift him up.

When he challenged me to a race, I laughed, sure, but I accepted right away. Not to mock him—but to make him feel included. Like part of the team.

The crowd loved it. Everyone was smiling. So was he, I think. It felt like the right thing.

And look—I took off fast because that’s what people expected. The cheer, the energy, the eyes all on me—it’s what I’m good at. So I gave them a show. Loops. Sprints. The works.

Then halfway through, I saw the kids cheering with their little flags and wide eyes, and I thought... why not give them a story?

Why not make it dramatic?

So I lay down in the shade. Let the tension build.

Give Tortoise his moment to shine.

It wasn’t supposed to end that way. I misjudged the pacing. Got too comfortable. By the time I realized, he was already at the finish line.

The crowd went silent. Then—cheers for him. He looked so surprised. So proud.

And me?

I clapped the hardest.

Because deep down, I knew… it was a win we all needed.
